Manchester City winger Adam Johnson expects a start today against Aston Villa.
The skilful winger has found his first-team chances limited since the arrival of Samir Nasri and Sergio Aguero in the summer.
But despite not even making the bench in Munich, he was back in the side for the 4-0 thumping of Blackburn four days later and scored a cracking goal.
England winger Johnson, 24, said: "We know this is a squad game and you have to accept that you can't play in every game.
"The manager wanted to freshen things up after the Bayern Munich game by bringing in some of the lads who didn't play, so it's up to the likes of me to stake a claim when I play.
"We are aware that there are plenty of games coming up and we want to win every competition we're in.
"There will be a lot of chopping and changing as the season goes on, that's only to be expected."
