Man City win important but Tottenham boss not getting carried away

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino was retaining a realistic outlook despite his side's 2-1 win over Manchester City on Sunday.

Goals from Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen either side of Kelechi Iheanacho's 74th-minute strike got the job done for the North Londoners who remained in second place on the table, cutting the deficit with league leaders Leicester City to just two points.

Despite a win of such magnitude, Pochettino was keeping a lid on things as Spurs continue to edge closer to their first top flight title since 1961.

"It was a very important victory, (we're) happy. I think our players deserve full credit for the performance," he said.

"Like always you need to work hard and try to improve every day and we are now in a good position in the table but is too early to start to speak about the title.

"It was a big test for us. It is important to start to feel that when you come to a stadium like Manchester City to play against a big team you can win. It is very important for the future."
