Controversy may have surrounded both Carlos Tevez goals but overall Manchester City deserved their 3-2 victory over Blackpool at Bloomfield Road.

Blackpool may have edged the first half but Man City improved after the break when all the goals were scored and despite the narrow scoreline the visitor’s did hit the woodwork three times in the second half.

Tevez opened the scoring for City from what seemed an offside position but Marlon Harewood restored parity for the hosts with a fine glancing header.

But Blackpool’s joy was short lived and within a minute City had regained the lead.

Again it was the Argentinean with a deflected shot who did the damage although this time he appeared to foul Ian Evatt in the build up.

There was no doubt about the visitor’s third, a superb sole affair from David Silva.

Gary Taylor-Fletcher then struck a late consolation deep into injury time.

For Manchester City they now move up to second in the Premier League, two points behind leaders Chelsea.
