Portsmouth can make a killing from the sale of Jermain Defoe to Manchester City.
The Daily Star Sunday says City are understood to be prepared to fork out up to £20million for a player Pompey paid Spurs just £9m for last January.
The richest club in the world head a queue of three - including Aston Villa and Defoe's former boss Harry Redknapp at Spurs - who want to make Defoe their first big-money signing when the transfer window opens.
But with City awash with Arab millions, the only hope Villa and Spurs have of landing him is if the London-born player doesn't want to go so far north.
