Manchester City have joined the battle for Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels.

The Daily Express says Manuel Pellegrini is said to be considering a January move of around £47million for the centre back who would ease City's defensive woes.

The German international is enduring a torrid time at Borussia Dortmund as they battle relegation and look to stop the rot.

But the news will not be welcomed by Arsenal nor Manchester United, both of whom are rumoured to want the German defender.
