Manchester City are ready to smash the world transfer record to land Valencia ace David Villa. In a move that will stun European rivals Chelsea and Real Madrid, City are willing to meet Villa's £70 million buyout clause to bring him to England, says Spanish radio El Mirador.

City have already made contact with Villa's representatives and also made Valencia aware they intend to bid for the prolific striker in January. Indeed, it's claimed City have told Los Che directors they'll pay whatever it takes to sign Villa.
