Manchester City are baulking at offering new terms to unsettled captain Carlos Tevez.
The Sunday Mirror says City are reluctant to hand Tevez an improved contract, despite suggestions that a £250,000-a-week offer is already on the table.
Tevez, who is back in Argentina contemplating whether to honour the remaining three years of his current deal, has said that Sheikh Mansour has told him he is free to leave the club, or sign a new deal.
But a City insider revealed: "There has not been an offer of a new contact to Carlos and we were just as surprised to hear him say that he speaks regularly with Sheikh Mansour.
"The feeling at the club is that perhaps Carlos himself is looking for more money from us because no club have registered an interest in buying him.
"Of course, Carlos has spoken to our chairman Khaldoon al Mubarak and senior figures at the club are wondering whether he mistakenly believed he was actually meeting with Sheikh Mansour."
