Manchester City won't stand by should Portsmouth show a willingness to sell Jermain Defoe in January.
The Sun says new Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp will ask Pompey to name their price for Defoe, who Spurs could not wait to get rid of when he refused to sign a new contract less than a year ago.
Defoe was sold for £7million but has once again demonstrated his ability at Pompey.
The little hitman has banged in 14 goals in 21 Premier League games since his January switch.
However, City are also keen and have the cash power to outbid Spurs for Defoe.
