Man City wanted Platt to stay

Manchester City management wanted David Platt to stay involved next season.

The Sun says the former England midfielder was offered the chance to stay at the Etihad where has been working as assistant boss.

But Platt, 46, has decided to quit in the wake of Roberto Mancini's sacking yesterday.
