Manchester City want Gareth Barry to lead their New York City franchise in the MLS.
Cheshire Today says City are considering offering Barry a two year extension to his current contract, with the proviso that the final year is spent in New York on loan for the first season of the club's new MLS franchise.
The deal, which will depend on the agreement of the new manager, would see Barry, 32, play for the next season or two at the Ethiad before finishing his career in the MLS, possibly as captain of the new team.
