Man City wait to hear more from Silva injury after Kouyate collision

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini says the club are waiting to hear the results of x-rays and scans for David Silva.

The Spanish playmaker was stretchered off the Etihad Stadium pitch in the 75th minute of City's 2-0 win over West Ham United after he was collected by a stray Cheikhou Kouyate elbow.

Silva was struck in the face before landing awkwardly and was taken to hospital after being treated for eight minutes on the pitch. City fear he has a broken cheekbone as well as collarbone injuries.

"At this moment he is in hospital and they are checking if he has a broken bone in his cheek," Pellegrini said.

"It looked serious but we must wait (to see) what happens at the hospital."

Of Kouyate's involvement, which warranted a yellow cars from referee Anthony Taylor, Pellegrini added: "I always think that a player doesn't want to damage another player.

"The referee was so near and he decided he was unintentional. Nothing more happens."
