Manchester City are keeping tabs on Juan Mata's situation at Chelsea.
The Guardian says City boss Manuel Pellegrini would welcome Mata to the Etihad should he push for a move away in January.
Mata is nervous about his place in Spain's World Cup squad if he fails to nail down a regular start under Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho this season.
Arsenal held talks with Mata's camp last moth, but their interest has since waned following their club record swoop for former Real Madrid playmaker Mesut Ozil.
