Manchester City midfielder Patrick Vieira says he can still offer plenty to France's World Cup team.
Now, though turning 34 during the tournament, he insists he is still worth his place in the engine room of Raymond Domenech's side.
"I don't find that Lassana is better than me, nor Jeremy Toulalan nor Alou Diarra," he told the Mirror.
"But if you ask them the same question, they would say the same thing.
"I don't know any player, of my standing or not, who likes to be on the bench. But if I am called up by France, I will go and I will do everything I can to win my place. If I am a sub for the first game and we play well, what do you want me to do?
"If I am the best, I am capable of saying it but if I find the others better, I am also capable of shutting up. And staying on the bench. Full stop."
