MAN CITY v LEICESTER RECAP: Huth grabs brace as Foxes topple City

Leicester City toppled Manchester City 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

The Foxes remained top of the Premier League table courtesy of a double from Robert Huth and a goal from Riyad Mahrez to further enhance their title hopes.

Huth opened the scoring in just the third minute when Mahrez played a short free-kick into the area which the towering German defender volleyed beyond Joe Hart with the help of a deflection from Martin Demichelis.

Algerian ace Mahrez made it 2-0 three minutes into the second half when he danced around Demichelis before rifling home on his right foot before Huth essentially wrapped it up on the hour-mark when he rose above his marker to get on the end of Christian Fuchs' corner and nod a looping ball past Hart.

City pulled one back through Sergio Aguero in the 87th minute when the Argentine made it 14 for the season by producing a glancing header to Bersant Celina's right-wing cross.

However, the damage had already been done as Claudio Ranieri's Foxes reigned supreme over Manuel Pellegrini's City as their title dream inches closer.

- Have Man City now dropped out of the race or are they still close enough? Will a lot depends on what happens against Spurs?

QUOTES CORNER

Man City boss Pellegrini on Leicester's title chances:

"If they continue the way they are playing they are favourites. They are doing well and have an advantage in points. We played against a very good team and it is fair to give them merit.

"But it just depends on what they can do from now until the end of the season. Having to play 13 games more is very difficult to predict.

"It was our chance at home to recover the lead in the table. We couldn't do it and now we are six points behind Leicester."

Leicester's Ranieri on the impressive display:

"It was a good performance. Difficult, because when you're playing against a team like City, players with fantastic quality, it's not easy but we concentrated very much.

"We wanted to try to win, without pressure, just enjoy the match, and try to do our best. I think the first goal was very good for our confidence and then we closed all the space."
