Manchester City welcomed a sell-out crowd for their Premier League International Cup tie against Schalke.

City christened the new MCFC Academy Stadium in style as they swept aside Schalke 5-1 in front of a sell-out crowd.

Patrick Vieira's side were three goals up inside 22 minutes as the young Blues responded to the loud vocal support of the fans on a memorable afternoon for all concerned.

City now top their Premier League International Cup table, overtaking Leicester City with a maximum six points taken from the opening two games.

Thierry Ambrose, Olivier Ntcham, Brandon Barker, Jack Byrne and Jordy Hiwula all struck in the rout.
