Man City turn to Benfica's Fernandes

Manchester City are moving for Benfica midfielder Manuel Fernandes.

City boss Sven Goran Eriksson is turning to Fernandes after being frustrated in his pursuit of Palermo midfielder Mark Bresciano last week.

Fernandes, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Everton, is understood to be keen on a move to the Premier League.

But City must consider whether to up their budget to lure the midfielder, as Everton are prepared to offer £8m for him.
