Manchester City are joining the race for Ajax defender Gregory van der Wiel.
Ajax have rubbished reports yesterday of a bid arriving from Bayern Munich for the Holland left-back.
While Chelsea have been linked, Dutch sources say City are now preparing an offer for Van der Wiel. City officials see Van der Wiel as more value for money than £19 million-rated Lazio fullback Aleksandar Kolarov.
