Man City trump Liverpool for Swindon prospect Alex Henshall

Manchester City have trumped Liverpool for Swindon prospect Alex Henshall.

The 16-year-old, who made two substitute appearances for Danny Wilson's side last season, is part of the England youth set-up and regarded as one of the country's most promising youngsters.

And Robins chairman Andrew Fitton has revealed other Premier League clubs were interested in securing the highly-rated winger's services.

"They have come up with a deal which is good for all parties," Fitton told BBC Radio Wiltshire. "We've been approached by a number of Premiership sides and that includes a discussion with Liverpool."

Fitton hopes the deal can be the start of a good relationship with City which will allow some of their youngsters to enjoy loan spells at the County Ground.

"Part of the deal is an understanding about what we might do together in the future and a first refusal on him coming out on loan to us," he added. "He's a special talent but he's also young so he's got a lot of learning to do."
