Ander Herrera feels Wednesday night's victory over Manchester City can kickstart things for Manchester United.

The Red Devils advanced to the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup with a 1-0 victory over their neighbours at Old Trafford, which saw them bounce back positively from Sunday's heavy 4-0 defeat to Chelsea in the Premier League.

The win comes ahead of a vital league match with 14th-placed Burnley at home on Saturday which comes prior to a Europa League trip to Fenerbahce and another crucial domestic fixture with Swansea City in South Wales next month.

Asked what the win gives United, Herrera told Sky Sports: "A lot of confidence first of all.

"Then we know the Premier League is the most important thing.

"We have two difficult teams fighting against relegation in Burnley and Swansea. They will give everything, we want to fight for the Premier League.

"We have to fight for all games. Our competitors are losing points, so it is good to be close to the top."
