Bulgaria Under-21 captain Ivelin Popov is trialling with Manchester City.
City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson is set to watch striker Popov, who plays for Litex Lovech, in Bulgaria's Under-21 clash with Ireland next week and could look to bring him to Manchester in the January transfer window.
Popov is suspended for Friday's clash against England.
Twenty-year-old Popov, who can operate on the right of midfield or up front, has two full caps for his country as well as nine for the under-21s but is yet to net an international goal. He has scored eight goals in 29 appearances for Litex.
Popov would join countrymen Martin Petrov and Valeri Bojinov at Eastlands.
