Man City to keep Navas, Delph for squad depth

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has revealed he will be retaining the services of two players for the 2016/17 season.

Jesus Navas and Fabian Delph's futures at the Etihad Stadium have been clouded since Guardiola took the reins and signed the likes of Nolito, Leroy Sane and Ilkay Gundogan but the Spaniard says both have a role to play with City.

Both Navas, who has been heavily linked with a return to Sevilla, and Delph sat on the bench as City defeated Steaua Bucharest 5-0 in the first leg of their Champions League play-off on Tuesday night but the pair have been given assurances by Guardiola who is planning to use his entire squad throughout the course of his debut campaign on England.

"All of the players are important, so a lot of players like Fabian and Jesus, they are going to help us," he said.

"I know for the players who don't play it's tough but we're going to use them.

"We have to create a good team spirit and we saw it today and against Sunderland (on Saturday).

"That is the first step to create something for our people to be proud of."
