Man City to head to USA in 2017

Manchester City have announced that they will return to the USA for a summer tour in 2017.

The Citizens have identified the US and China as their prime markets for expansion and the launch of MLS side New York City FC has been a part of that strategy. City have visited the United States on more than one occasion in the past and plan to do so again next summer.

City Football Group's (CFG) chief commercial officer Tom Glick said: "I'm working on growing our fan bases, increasing our visibility, awareness and understanding, and driving revenue for all of our clubs and for all of the regions of the world that are important to us.

"We have managing directors who have gone to each of these focus markets, and who are building and operating teams to develop and add value to the sport of soccer in those markets.

"We are just beginning to add this focus, now that we have New York up and running so well. We are just beginning."

City, who kick-started their pre-season with a 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich in Germany yesterday, are scheduled to visit China for friendlies against Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund this summer.
