Manchester City have rejected an approach from Real Madrid for striker Carlos Tevez.

The Daily Express says Real are trying to lure Tevez to Spain after losing Gonzalo Higuain for the season with a back injury and failing to bring Ruud van Nistelrooy back to the Bernabeu from Hamburg.

But City have told Real their leading scorer is not for sale and rejected suggestions they have quoted them a £33million price-tag.

They would, however, be willing to do business over out-of-favour former Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor.
