Brazilian midfielder Fernando has reportedly told FC Porto that he wants to leave at the end of the season.
It is believed that the 26-year old, who was a winter transfer target for Manchester City, will depart Porto in the summer when his contract expires.
City launched an unsuccessful late double bid for Fernando and teammate Eliaquim Mangala last month but reports suggest that the Eastlands club should get at least one of their men in the next window.
Fernando's representatives are hopeful City will offer a pre-contract agreement ahead of a potential shift to the Etihad Stadium at the completion of the current campaign.
