Manchester City remain determined to sign a new centre-half.
The Daily Star says after the Willy Caballero deal goes through from Malaga, City will complete their summer spending by signing either Porto defender Eliaquim Mangala or Roma's Mehdi Benatia.
Mangala, 23, is their number one target but the France defender is believed to prefer a move to Chelsea or Manchester United.
City are hoping Mangala will change his mind and then will open negotiations with Porto.
