Manchester City are in protracted negotiations with Livorno for goalkeeper Marco Amelia.

City boss Sven Goran Eriksson had hoped for a quick deal for Amelia, but Livorno president Aldo Spinelli is proving a stubborn negotiator.

While he's prepared to sell, Spinelli will only give Amelia the green light to join City for top dollar - particularly after seeing Craig Gordon move to Sunderland for £9 million.
