Real Betis hope to sign permanently on-loan Manchester City striker Roque Santa Cruz.

Betis have been encouraged by comments from Santa Cruz that he'd be prepared to take a cut on his City wages to see the deal happen.

"The chances are very promising in all aspects," said the Paraguay international.

"We have discussed the financial issues, but City will have much to say and clubs in England do not negotiate transfers until the end of the season."
