Manchester City striker Roque Santa Cruz is set to become embroiled in a club v country row.

Gerardo Martino's Paraguay will visit Australia and New Zealand for two international friendlies next month.

"I have decided to recall Roque to the national team," Martino told Cardinal radio station.

"I am going to continue with this idea of recalling Paraguayan players despite the fact it may bother some teams in Paraguay and Europe.

"The national team is more important than any club in the world. As I have said before, we don't control the dates where Fifa schedule the friendly games but we must respect those dates."
