Manchester City remain on standby to close a deal for Porto midfielder Fernando.

The Brazil-born midfielder is keen on a move to the Etihad Stadium but the deal is being held up while he finalises his departure from the Portuguese club, says the Manchester Evening News.

Fernando signed a new three-year deal in February but is now expected to move for around £16m when the final details are ironed out.
