Manchester City chief executive Ferran Soriano says the club is searching for a new era following the departure of Roberto Mancini.
The Italian was sacked recently despite bringing City their first title in 44 years last season and also the 2011 FA Cup whilst making them one of the top few teams in England.
Notwithstanding this, Soriano feels that City now need to move in a new direction and create something different in Mancini's absence.
"He did very good things for the club. He stayed there for three years, which is a lot of time. He brought the club to a winning club," Soriano told CNN.
"Now we are just looking for the next step, the next cycle.
"We have a fantastic squad. We want to play better football and we want to continue winning.
"It is not that Mancini did anything wrong. We are just in another cycle, in another era."
