Ajax defender Gregory van der Wiel has emerged as a strong target for Manchester City.
The Holland international has been on the City radar for over a year now but it looks as though they are stepping up their pursuit after technical director and three other club officials watched him in action against Feyenoord on Wednesday.
van der Wiel is contract to Ajax until June 2013 and is valued at around £17million. City's Premiership rivals Chelsea and Arsenal as well as Italian giants Inter Milan are all believed to be showing interest.
