Manchester City are stepping up contract talks with Joe Hart in an attempt to stave off interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

The England goalkeeper, who signed a £5,000-a-week contract when he joined City from Shrewsbury Town two years ago, has turned down an improved deal in the belief that it does not reflect his newfound status.
