Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini is expected to press on with plans to sign a new centre-half after Vincent Kompany suffered an injury last night.
Kompany's groin injury, suffered during victory over Newcastle United, leaves Joleon Lescott as the only fit centre-half available to Pellegrini.
The Telegraph says Pellegrini continues to pursue efforts to sign Pepe, the Real Madrid defender, and Atletico Madrid centre-half Martín Demichelis, but the Chilean is hopeful that Kompany's injury will lead to nothing more serious than a two-week lay-off.
