Man City starlet Foden wins Young Sport Personality of the Year award

In a surprise vote, the youngster from Manchester City, Phil Foden, won the Young Sports Personality of the Year Award from the BBC. It has been an incredible year for Foden, who is only 17.

He was the player of the tournament at the Under-17 World Cup that England won, and he got to come on in the Premier League on Saturday as his side demolished Tottenham 4-1 at the Etihad.

Speaking after that game, Foden said: "I feel very lucky to be part of a great team and I'd like to thank all the players and staff."

Foden is also the youngest English player to ever feature in the UEFA Champions League, making his debut at aged 17 years and 192 days.

He first rose to prominence under current manager Pep Guardiola during a pre-season game against Manchester United, where he delivered a sensational midfield performance.

After that game, Guardiola sung his praises: "It's been a long time since I saw something like today. His performance was on another level."
