Man City starlet Aleix Garcia determined to continue impressing Pep

Aleix Garcia marked his first start of the season for Manchester City with a crucial goal on Wednesday night.

The 19-year-old midfielder fired home a Jesus Navas cut-back in the 67th minute of City's 2-1 EFL Cup third round win over Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium.

Garcia, who made his Premier League as a late sub against AFC Bournemouth on the weekend, is now eager to continue working hard in a bid to gain further chances under Pep Guardiola

"I'm very happy to give my skills to the team," he told mancity.com.

"But especially for the win and to get through to the next round for the work we did today.

"We need to keep working because we have to face them on Saturday.

"I work every day so Pep can give me these opportunities. He's in charge, he always tries to give opportunities to us and I will try to continue working so he gives me more in the future.

"I try to work as much as I can this week but of course it is difficult. Guardiola is the one in charge and I will keep working so he can count on me."

City will next meet crosstown rivals Manchester United in the fourth round of the league cup in October but Garcia insists that another Manchester derby will merely be a normal game for the City squad.

"We will try to face it as any other game," he added.

"Of course it is difficult because Manchester United is a great team but we will try to win and get through to the next round because we want to win all the trophies."
