Manchester City are intensifying their pursuit of Cagliari defender Davide Astori.

The Daily Mail says City sent two scouts to watch the 26-year-old play for Cagliari in a 0-0 draw with Chievo on Saturday.

Southampton tried to sign Astori in January and hope to revive a deal this summer. However, City have added him to their wishlist as they look to replace Joleon Lescott who is expected to leave.

City and Southampton are also maintaining interest in Astori's team-mate, Belgian midfielder Radja Nainggolan.
