Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany says he was pleased to come out of today's clash with Chelsea unscathed and with a point.
The reigning champions drew a blank at Stamford Bridge but also managed to keep a clean sheet despite the fact Kompany was in major doubt for the match two days prior.
The Belgian injured his ankle in the Champions League against Real Madrid during the week but got up for the Blues fixture as he wanted to do everything he could for his team who dropped to second on the table behind Manchester United because of the result.
"I was on crutches just 48 hours ago," Kompany said.
"I wanted to play for the team. I had said that I wouldn't play if I couldn't give everything I had on the pitch. But I am happy I was able to take part, because it was not the most comfortable game.
He added: "It's always a difficult away game. I don't think there are many times we come here and win.
"In the end it was a draw and as a defender I am happy with a clean sheet - I guess that's what I'm going to take out of the game.
"Our last performance against Real Madrid wasn't as bad as what the table shows at the moment. But this is another big game out of the way for us and we look forward to the other games and we feel that we can do enough to win a lot of games from here until the end of the season."
