Man City skipper Kompany hits back at critics over Champions League campaign

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany believes they deserve greater credit for their Champions League campaign.

The defender believes going up against Bayern Munich, Napoli and Villarreal has been as tough as facing the Premier League's elite.

The former Hamburg ace said: "We're in by far the hardest group in this Champions League.

"We were in pot three so we were never going to be protected.

"That's the reason why we are still fighting now because it's such a tough group.

"You play one of the top three from the Spanish league, the same from Italy and Germany.

"It's arguably the four hardest leagues in Europe all together. It's the equivalent of playing your Arsenals, Liverpools and Chelseas every week.

"It's the draw, there's nothing you can do about it.

"We wanted to be in it. Hopefully next year it can be a bit different."
