Manchester City captain Richard Dunne has defended Sven Goran Eriksson's record with England.
"He has proved himself at club level and even at international level. He did a fine job with England. They were beaten on penalties in two competitions, which is difficult."
Dunne added: "We have been mostly in relegation battles in the last few years and, even if it is only a short spell at the top, it is nice to be part of it.
"The football that we're playing is a big plus for the fans and we have been going into each game full of confidence. Hopefully, we will stay up there and challenge for Europe at the end of the season.
"He [Eriksson] is the first European manager I have worked under. Everything is a little more relaxed. He is laid back and he wants us to have a smile and enjoy training and games."
