Manchester City signing Gabriel Jesus has sparked controversy when discussing his move from Palmeiras.

A conversation with his former agent Fabio Caran via Whatsapp made its way to the public arena last week.

Gabriel was quoted saying "I almost canceled the deal so that Palmeiras would not get anything" over frustration with how the negotiations were being handled.

Later, on his personal website, Gabriel commented: "I regret that an excerpt from a conversation with my former agent was taken out of context, incomplete and manipulated by a person who before I trusted.

"With the help of the private conversation, that person's true nature and character was shown. It's a shame, but my history with the fans, board and Paulo Nobre is much bigger than that. I have already sent the matter to my lawyers to take appropriate measures."
