Manchester City fullback Danilo has explained leaving Real Madrid last week.
The Brazil international spoke to Marca after City's International Champions Cup win over Real.
"I needed a change, another dynamic. I was very comfortable with my teammates, with the coach, but I needed to play more and I hope to do it here," said Danilo.
"It was not easy to leave Madrid, but I thought about myself and my family.
"I will always be grateful to Madrid, for being able to win two Champions Leagues. There were hard times, but it helped me grow.
"(Zinedine) Zidane was like a father to me."
