Manchester City are mooted to have secured an option on Fiorentina attacker Stevan Jovetic.
Corriere Fiorentino says City boss Roberto Mancini tried until the final day of the summer market to sign the Montenegro international, but Fiorentina president Andrea Della Valle refused to sell.
However, it's now emerged an option could have been arranged between the two clubs, which helped smooth the swap involving Stefan Savic arriving in exchange for Matija Nastasic.
City will now be given first refusal to sign Jovetic at the end of the season.
