Man City's Soriano: Melbourne Heart will not be a 'small Manchester'

Manchester City chief Ferran Soriano insists that the English club has no plans to turn their latest acquisition into a 'mini Manchester'.

The Eastlands outfit have purchased 80% of A-League club Melbourne Heart, with NRL side Melbourne Storm acquiring a 20% minority, but Soriano has made it vehemently clear that City will not be using the club as a place to send inexperienced, developing or out-of-form players down under.

"This is not a small Manchester team, this is a Melbourne team that will use the resources of the City group," he told The Telegraph.

"Conceptually they are very different so when people ask if we will bring Manchester City players, I say probably not - we're going to bring the players who are needed in Melbourne.

"We have a network of 36 scouts, who will now be looking for players for Melbourne as well."
