England boss Roy Hodgson has brought in Jack Rodwell to cover doubtful midfielder Tom Cleverley for upcoming friendlies with Republic of Ireland and Brazil.
The Manchester City man, who netted twice in the weekend's 3-2 loss to Norwich City, steps into a Three Lions squad already missing Steven Gerrard and Jack Wilshere in midfield.
"Roy Hodgson has called Jack Rodwell into the England squad today, in the knowledge that Tom Cleverley might not be able to take part in the upcoming double-header against Republic of Ireland and Brazil," read a statement from The FA.
Rodwell made his England debut in the 1-0 win over Spain at Wembley in November 2011 but has failed to establish himself at City since joining from Everton for £12million last summer.
