Man City's Pellegrini targeting top spot with win over Bayern

Manuel Pellegrini is eyeing a 3-0 victory over German giants Bayern Munich in their final Champions League group stage fixture next month.

City beat Viktoria Plzen 4-2 on Wednesday night to remain three points behind the Bavarians in Group D after they broke Barcelona's 2002 record of 10 European wins in a row when getting the better of CSKA Moscow 3-1 in Russia.

To finish top of the group, City need a three-goal victory over Pep Guardiola's side and Pellegrini is targeting such a result at the Allianz Arena on December 10.

"I think we made the changes we had to," he told Sky Sports.

"We had already qualified for the next stage and Bayern had won against CSKA so it is very difficult for us to be first in the group, we are going to try but it is very difficult.

"We have to win 3-0 in Munich and after that game we have to play against Arsenal (in the Premier League)."

He added: "I think for the moment, the most important thing for us is the Premier League.

"We will go to Munich and try and win but winning there is not easy, it is important but more important is the game after that with Arsenal."
