Man City's Pellegrini eager to keep Milner

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has implored James Milner to re-sign with the club.

The 29-year old midfielder is out of contract in the summer and is yet to commit to a new deal but Pellegrini has confirmed that the reigning champions are eager to keep him at the Etihad stadium for the foreseeable future.

"When you are trying to sign a contract you need both parties to agree to it, so maybe that's why it's not so easy to get it signed," Pellegrini said.

"But I repeat, the most important thing is that the club wants Milner to stay here, and he has to decide what he wants to do with his future."

Milner scored in the 55th minute of City's 4-1 victory at Stoke City on Wednesday, backing up his late leveler against Hull City on the weekend, giving him two goals in two games for the first time since April 2010.
