Joleon Lescott has revealed that Kevin Muscat was one of his earlier influences at the beginning of his professional career.
The former Melbourne Victory star was captain at Wolves when Lescott kicked off his career at the Molineux back in 2000 and the current Manchester City centre-half says the Australian was a great man to play with in his early days.
"I haven't seen much of the A-League but my first experience of Australian players was Kevin Muscat who was my captain at Wolves," he told au.fourfourtwo.com.
"Very, very good leader. His passion and his professionalism and the way he conducted himself around the training ground.
"He was always one of the guys who had a joke around the place but you could also have a serious conversation with him.
"Musky was one of those personalities we needed around the club and team and he was a consistent performer on the park.
"He took me under his wing when I was just 16 or 17. He was someone I looked up to a lot at the time."
