Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho has been called up to the Brazil squad by Luiz Felipe Scolari.
The 28-year old, who has played just five times for A Selecao, has been included in the 16-man squad for the March 5 friendly with South Africa.
Scolari has failed to name any players from the Brazilian league because he plans to integrate them towards the end of March.
"This friendly against South Africa is a different situation. It's no use me taking 23 players, 18 or 19 is the most I'll be taking," Scolari told a press conference.
"I'm always watching the players who are in action. If there are surprises, it will be a normal thing. I always call the players who are in a best position. I'll test some more players and then define the final list.
"The ones who are training, working, I'm watching. We could have a surprise up until the last call-up."
