Man City's Fernandinho expecting attacking affair against Arsenal

Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho believes his side will experience an extremely attacking contest when Arsenal come to town this weekend.

The Brazil international is well aware that the Gunners are a side with the ability to put plenty of attacking pressure on their opponents but he feels it could play into City's hands if the north Londoners focus too much on the final third at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

"Both City and Arsenal are attack-minded sides and that is good for us because when we meet teams with a similar mentality to ourselves we know we will have space to create chances - but by the same token, they are capable of doing the same because they have some great players, too," he told the club's official website.

"It's not in our make-up or in Arsenal's to play defensively and I'm sure it will be an open game, but I obviously hope our strikers make the difference and score the goals we need to win the game."

However, Fernandinho did add that Arsene Wenger's fifth-placed Arsenal team are not to be taken lightly.

"We know what to expect," he added further.

"Arsenal are a very good, technical side and if we allow them to play with the players they have, they have the ability to hurt us so we know we will need to give a top performance if we are to take three points."
