Man City's Bellamy told me to treat Celtic supporters well - Matthews

Celtic new boy Adam Matthews has said that his former Cardiff City teammate Craig Bellamy has given him some insight into how the Hoops fans work.

The 19-year old Welsh international has signed a four-year deal with the Glasgow powerhouse but before he left Cardiff, Manchester City striker Craig Bellamy, who was on loan at his hometown club, told Matthews that life will be great if he can quickly become a fan favourite.

"Craig Bellamy said the supporters were great, they treat you well if you treat them well," Matthews said following Bellamy's loan spell at Celtic Park back in 2005.

And Matthews also admitted he was looking forward to being a part of such a big rivalry as the Old Firm with Rangers.

"I came up to watch the Celtic-Rangers (League Cup) final at Hampden, the atmosphere was amazing. I just cannot wait to get involved and play in the game," he added.

"The only real derby we have is Swansea. That's a massive derby but I think this one tops it.

"I don't think I have been to a game where the atmosphere was so good. I couldn't hear myself speak."
